GPS-based traffic control, passenger information system and ticket sale

Vector OBU (On-Board-Unit) is our own designed and developed on-board computer for public transport vehicles. It helps to inform the driver on a dynamic and real time base about the daily tasks, lines, routes, what needs to be accomplished. Also it ensures data transmission to the database server of the dispatcher service with GPRS communication and controls the passenger information system and the green-way request based on the geographical location of the vehicle.

The location of the vehicle appears on the map- or line-oriented display of the dispatcher based on the received data. Icons of the vehicles have different colors in case of a late or early arrival in comparison to the time table. The control of the passenger information displays at the bus stops is from the server of the traffic control through GPRS communication. The passenger information displays inform passengers about the location and the expected arrival of the vehicle based on the real traffic situation. Passengers at bus stops without a passenger information display can find out the location and expected arrival of the vehicle with the help of our applications for mobile devices.

The driver completes the day’s tasks based on information available on the on-board computer: the number of the next route, the departure time and the difference from the time table. The on-board computer makes not only a conversation between the driver and the dispatcher, but also able to send pre-fixed text messages. The driver needs to push only one button to send one of these pre-fixed, frequent text messages, and the dispatcher can also edit new text messages. The system is able to manage traffic jams, modify a command, control the traffic, log and compare the plans and the facts with the help of the Startlog program.

Goal of the up-to-date passenger information system is to improve the quality and effectiveness of the service. We make travelling easier for disabled people. We ensure acoustic passenger information on-board and at the bus stop for blind people and people with poor eyesight. Also displays all the essential travel information via text messages for deaf people. Texting communication also helps to inform the tourists.

Our goal is to make the public transport more predictable, cost-effective and attractive with keeping the time table, planning better lines and time table, making reports and displaying the traffic situation real-time.
